This car has the smooth and powerful 2.0 litre BMW DIESEL engine which provides great acceleration combined with OUTSTANDING economy (at least 45MPG). The engine is so quiet and smooth that you will need to remind yourself that it’s a diesel every time you pull into the filling station. The only difference between them is that the 2 litre Diesel is without a doubt a lot quicker than the 2 litre V6 petrol version. The economy is even better on a long run as it is revving at just 3,000RPM doing almost 95MPH in top gear…so it cruises effortlessly and silently. The 5 speed AUTOMATIC gearbox is silky smooth and gear change is seamless. These 75 diesel auto’s are unlike any other auto car I have ever experienced…because the auto is actually quicker than the manual version…it just winds up the speed effortlessly and seems to suffer much less lag than the manual variant.
The specification of this car simply cannot be matched. The TV monitor provides you with a full communications interface to the car. By pushing the MENU button you can input settings, input a destination to the Sat Nav or simply watch terrestrial television in full colour. The picture will cut out for safety reasons while you are driving but you can still listen to the Six O’clock News as drive home from work! The Sat Nav can be set to operate in the background so once you have input the destination it hides away and just interrupts the other features (taking over the TV screen and hi-fi sound) to warn you of impending manoeuvres. It will guide you right to the front door of any house or building in the UK as well as covering major European roads. This TV/NAV system is the SAME as in the BMW 3 series. I'm including the latest UK disk and also the French and major European road disk. The electric seats have 4 different adjustments to help you find the optimum driving position and they are heated for those winter months. The car can also memorise three different driver seat and mirror positions. The hi-fi sounds great and benefits from a 6 CD changer and there are a number of other options which really enhance long journeys…such as cruise control, remote hi-fi controls on the steering column, an auto dimming mirror which detects and corrects night dazzle from other lights. Options like these, and the rain sensor which detects rain and adjusts the speed of the wipers according to the amount of rain, all add up to create a car in which even the driver feels like a passenger with little to do but enjoy the ride. The ride is quiet, smooth and quick when you want it, and you really don’t feel your speed, so watch out for speed cameras!
These 75’s were designed by Rover under BMW ownership and as a BMW expert by background I can really see so much of their technology in this car. Many of the components such as the auto dimming mirror and rain sensor are straight out of the BMW range. So too is the way interior trims are assembled and installed – so unlike old rovers there are no sloppy dashboards or visible screws anywhere! You really do feel special when you sit in and drive this car.
This car is in SUPERB CONDITION. The interior is BEAUTIFUL and the leather shows no signs of any wear. There a couple of nicks in the rear seat area but these are tiny and you would hardly notice them. Otherwise the interior is unmarked and the Leather, Carpets, Dash and Switchgear are all spotlessly clean and still like new. You could genuinely think you were the first person ever to sit in this car.
The exterior in equally excellent condition. There are a few stone chips around the car which I have had touched in but the only blemish you might actually notice is a small scuff on the near side corner of the rear bumper and there are also a couple of other tiny marks on the rear bumper. Frankly though, the body work of this car is extremely fresh and there it is hard to spot anything to fault its external beauty. The alloy wheels are very clean and wearing 4 fairly new Continental tyres. There are no no nasty scratches, scuffs or dents anywhere on the car though and as the pictures show, this is a rare spec which is still in head turning shape!
I've also bought new Rover carpet overmats. This car has had 2 owners from new and has covered a modest 69,000 miles. I also have a service book with stamps showing history all at the same main dealer from new. The stamps are at 15K, 29K, 41K, 55K. The car was also serviced at 69K and the main dealership will stamp this for the new owner. This car is designed to go 15,000 miles between services and because it’s chain driven there is no cam belt to worry about…so these are super economical to run! All the serivces were carried out by Skinners of Rye who have serviced the car from new. So, to summarise; Rover 75 Tourer benefiting from 45MPG Diesel Engine and RARE AUTO Gearbox Option
The Best Colour Combination – Black with Cream Leather and BIG Alloys
Massive (SE) Spec with TV, SATNAV and electric everything
Modest miles, and in a condition that can only be described as TOTALLY OUTSTANDING
Main Dealer History, 4 good tyres, just serviced, and a new MOT
Cost well over £30,000 just 3 years ago. Rover really got it right with the 75…I’ve been converted! It's a shame that these Tourer's probably wont be made any more. It's a great British car. This is a spec to rival BMW, JAG and MERC without their running costs so you won’t be disappointed by this incredible car. I HAVE NEVER seen a DIESEL ESTATE which is also an AUTOMATIC in the BEST COLOUR COMBO with BIG ALLOYS and with TV and SAT NAV before

Just had the ECU remapped by Simon Coe of CCC Technology which has increased the BHP from 116 to 152. And more importantly the MPG has increase by 4-8MPG!!
